C-T CEBU (PHILIPPINES) REMINISCING AND REVISITING THE 51st INTERNATIONAL EUCHARISTIC CONGRESS (JANUARY 24-31, 2016) TWO MONTHS LATER …

CEBU has been in focus in the Catholic world, being the “cradle of Christianity in the Far East” and the seat of the 51st International Eucharistic Congress (IEC). For a week-long, the multiplicity of movements converged at one Center in CEBU. All roads led to the IEC Pavilion from January 24-31, 2016.

We (C-T CEBU) had been very lucky because our place is geographically  at the Center point of this 51st IEC, an international gathering. We had truly been grace-filled with faith laden experiences as delegates of the IEC during the 8-day activities/sessions.
SR. FELMA RAMONES, SSJ AND SR. CATHY CANONERO, SSJ TOGETHER WITH OTHER IEC DELEGATES

SR. FELMA HOLDING THE SMALL STATUE OF STO. NINO

SR. KIM AND SR. FELMA WITH OTHER TWO SISTERS FROM DIFFERENT CONGREGATIONS

Not only that, our Talleres de Nazareth-Cebu was tasked to sew some vestments used in the IEC Liturgical Celebrations. Our hardworking team of TDNC workers were also able to produce on time the products for the 8-day international display. As exhibitors of our TALLERES DE NAZARETH products of Prayer-Work, our Church vestments found market internationally. Thanks be to God, our booth was one of the most frequented during the sale display by clients/customers from different dioceses in the country especially by foreign bishops and clergy.

Catholics showed force in the celebration of the Eucharist from the Opening Mass on January 24 until the Statio Orbis (The World Stops) or Misa ng Mundo at the SRP on the last day of the 31st January, 2016. We anticipated the rain and it did rain before the start of the Mass but the faithful’s prayer miraculously stopped it and this was received with much joy!

The main message of 51st IEC was expressed in the theme song: “Christ in You, our Hope of Glory”. The song found deeper meaning in the hearts of the Cebuanos and the whole Filipino nation.

After two months…

What keeps on lingering in our hearts are the following 51st International Eucharistic Congress QUOTES by the different speakers:

“THE PHILIPPINES…ONE OF THE MOST VIBRANTCATHOLIC COUNTRIES IN THE WORLD”! FILIPINO FAITH IS EXCITING!  FILIPINOS, A POWERFUL FORCE VERSUS SECULARISM” (Bishop Barron)

“FOSTER A ‘EUCHARISTIC CULTURE’ RESTORE THE FAMILY MEALS” (Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle)

“JESUS AS THE FACE OF GOD LEAVES A FRAGRANCE OF FORGIVENESS ON THE SINNER THAT NAILS HIM ON THE CROSS.” (Archbishop Socrates Villegas)

“A SAINT IS SOMEONE WHO KNOWS THAT HE OR SHE IS A SINNER.” (Archbishop Socrates Villegas)

“DO YOU WANT THE EUCHARIST? THEN BE READY TO TAKE UP THE CROSS.” (Cardinal Gaudencio Rosales)

“IT’S IN THE DARKEST THAT GOD COMES TO US IN WAYS THAT WE MAY EVER HAVE ANTICIPATED SO… DO NOT BE AFRAID OF CRISIS.” ( Rev. Fr. Timothy Radcliffe, OP)

“EUCHARIST CALLS FOR WORLD WAR III AGAINST POVERTY, CRUELTY, WORLD AGAINST THE WORLD THAT PRODUCES MORE WEAPONS WHILE MORE THAN HALF IN THE WORLD DOES NOT GET ANY FOOD…”(Cardinal Charles Maung Bo- Papal legate)

“IEC, LENT’ SOUL-SEARCHING PREPS FOR MAY POLLS”

“EUCHARIST IS NOT ONLY A TASK BUT A MISSION.”(Cardinal Gaudencio Rosales)
